Cranberry Swirl Cheesecake Bars
An autumn-appropriate dessert that’s rich, creamy – and totally company worthy
November means peak cranberry in the US. Cranberry sauce, relish, and salads are staples on Thanksgiving tables.
But cranberries like dessert, too. As in these Cranberry Swirl Cheesecake Bars.
Because why should pumpkin pie have all the fun?

Cranberry Walnut Bread
An easy breakfast, dessert, or snack option
‘Tis the season for baking. Cue that sugar high.
Or not. Our version of Cranberry Walnut Bread is sweet, but not overmuch. So you can eat it without fear of bouncing off the walls.
Of course, you may want that bounce, especially during the holiday season. In which case, have seconds. But don’t forget your crash helmet.

Cranberry Buckle
An easy, seasonal dessert for fall
Chilly weather and short days can be a downer. So whip up some cranberry cheer.
Cranberries are the iconic autumn fruit, arriving in our markets just as winter threatens. And they’re a staple on Thanksgiving tables in the US.
But they’re also wonderful in baked goodies (like this Cranberry Buckle), where their tart edge cuts through sweet, cakelike surroundings like a happy surprise.
So buckle up.

Cranberry-Apple Crisp with Nut Crumble
Autumn’s most popular fruits make this a festive dessert
Apples and cranberries are both autumn icons. So why not set them up for a date?
They get along beautifully in this dish: Cranberry ting enlivens apple mellowness. And baking concentrates their flavors, bringing out the best in both.
With Thanksgiving coming up soon, you’ll want to add this dish to the menu. Your guests will gobble it up.

Cranberry Shrub Cocktail with Bourbon
You can also make a kid-friendly version of this holiday drink
Ready for some holiday cheer? So are we.
The season calls out for cranberries, of course. And bourbon is perfect for warming a long December night. Mix them both with a tangy, vinegary shrub syrup, and you have a cocktail that even Santa can’t resist. (But we know some of his elves don’t drink, so we provide instructions for a nonalcoholic version of the cocktail, too.)
Wishing you a berry merry December.

The Cosmopolitan Cocktail
Yeah, we know—but it tastes really good
Is there any drink with more cultural baggage than the Cosmopolitan (aka the Cosmo)? With its girly pink hue—not to mention its status as signature drink on Sex and the City—it seems that no self-respecting cocktail connoisseur would be caught dead drinking it.
Which is too bad, because it’s quite a refreshing cocktail. It’s great by the pool in the summer heat. Or as a pre-dinner treat.
So if you’ve never had a Cosmo—and despite its popularity, many people haven’t (that baggage thing, you know)—maybe now is the time to give it a try. Because real men (and women) aren’t put off by a little snark.

The Cape Codder Cocktail
This summer cooler is a breeze to make
July is here, and North America is set to celebrate. Today (July 1st) is Canada Day. And this Saturday, July 4, is Independence Day in the US.
So this is a busy week, full of cookouts and picnics. And to beat the summer heat, we’re all looking for something cool to quench our thirst.
Enter the Cape Codder. Its bright, slightly tart flavor is perfect for those long, hot summer days. And its gorgeous red hue lights up any party. You can even make a nonalcoholic version for those who prefer not to imbibe.
So choose your celebration, and raise a glass.

Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Ditch the Canned and Discover Real Flavor
Cranberry sauce is a staple of Thanksgiving tables. And why not? Cranberries in their natural state may be too tart to take, but adding sugar mellows their flavor into something seductively good.
Plus, cranberry sauce combines so well with those other Thanksgiving standbys: turkey, gravy, and stuffing. And for many people, it’s an obligatory ingredient in (or at least, accompaniment to) day-after turkey sandwiches.
But when was the last time you made your own cranberry sauce? Maybe never, if you’re like most of us. It’s so easy to buy the commercial canned stuff. And because cranberry sauce is often a supermarket loss leader at this time of the year, the cans may actually be a pretty good deal — at least from a financial standpoint.
How about from a flavor standpoint? Well, let’s not even go there. Instead, I’ll just tell you how quick and easy it is to make your own cranberry sauce at home. (Hint: 15 minutes, tops. Plus time to chill in the fridge.)
The only drawback is, you won’t have those little groove marks from the can.

Cranberry Relish with Jalapeño
Spice Up a Traditional Thanksgiving Favorite
Thanksgiving dinner may be the most traditional, never-changing meal of the year.
Turkey. Dressing. Gravy. Mashed Potatoes. A Sweet Potato Something. A Cranberry Something. A Green Veggie Something. Add Biscuits, Pumpkin Pie, a nice wine (Beaujolais Nouveau for me), and whatever else is in your family’s repertoire.
We may tinker with the menu occasionally, but we usually revert back to our traditional dishes.
Still, if you’re looking for a new riff on an old favorite, why not consider adding a jalapeño pepper (or two) to your cranberry relish? The dish won’t be much hotter (unless you want it to be) and it takes little extra preparation time.
Best of all, you’ll have everyone at the table trying to guess why this year’s cranberry relish tastes so much more interesting than last year’s!
