The cookies still taste delish when frozen, and sometimes they remain crunchy. But not always. I think airtight containers at room temperature is the best way to go, but they often do soften up a bit when stored that way. Still awfully good, though. You might try the Washington Post recipe (3rd Note from the end of the list) - that recipe doesn't call for dates.
